Spanish supermodel and wife of Dani Alves, Joana Sanz, has come out in defence of her husband following charges against him bordering on the sexual assault of a woman in a nightclub.
“I know who my husband is," Sanz was quoted by Diario AS.
"I know how respectful he is because not even when he was getting to know me did he disrespect me.
"I have seen many times how women approach the booth, daring, to try something with my husband, in my face,” she said.
Alves and Joana married secretly in Ibiza back in 2017. That was after she had rejected two marriage proposals from the ex-Barcelona defender.
Joana is a popular model in Spain with an Instagram followership of more than one million people.
The sexual assault charges on the 39-year-old Alves are pretty grievous as revealed by Diario Sport.
The Pumas player is accused of locking up a woman in the bathroom before beating and raping her. The woman claims Alves also asked her to say 'I'm your b*tch', and then forced her to sit on top of him.
This evening, a judge in Spain sentenced Alves to prison without an option of bail until the trial is over. The player will be rearrested and imprisoned today.
