Chelsea Reach Agreement With Monaco For France Defender Benoit Badiashile
Chelsea are wasting no time in securing their transfer targets after reportedly agreeing a deal with Ligue 1 side AS Monaco for the transfer of French defender Benoit Badiashile.
The left-sided centre back is seen as a player for the future and will also immediately move to London where he will compete with other centre backs at the club.
The tall and physical defender is praised for his good ability on the ball, pace as well as his ball winning ability, all of which are vital for the success of a defender in a league like the Premier League.
As reported by English media the Athletic, the defender agreed a six years contract until 2028 with Chelsea. Long term contracts have become a thing at Chelsea since Todd Boehly took over.
The deal is worth in the region of €37-38million, with the medical schedule in the process of being scheduled for the French defender of Congolese descent.
He will become Chelsea's second winter window signing after David Datro Fofana was announced as a new Chelsea player, and will join from Molde in coming days.
The chase for Badiashile became a priority for the Blues after failing to land summer target RB Leipzig's Josko Gvardiol, despite agreeing personal terms with the player and offering over £70m, as reported by the Guardian.
