Chelsea Launch Medical Reviews As Players Becomes Unhappy Over Constant Injuries
Chelsea have reportedly launched medical reviews into why their first-team players are getting hit by constant injuries this season. The Blues currently have at least 11 first-team members out with injury as they endure one of their worst runs in the Premier League.
Dennis Zakaria became the latest player to join the injury table after limping off at Craven Cottage. A week earlier, Raheem Sterling and Christian Pulisic went off during the early minutes of their game against Manchester City.
It has been reported that there has been some disquiet within the Chelsea squad regarding how their welfare and injury checkups have been handled ever since the Todd Boehly consortium took over last summer.
The Telegraph reports that the sacking of long-time medical professionals at the club Paco Biosca and Thierry Laurent brought about new changes at the club. An outside physiotherapy company was outsourced where Wesley Fofana bizarrely conducted his medicals before joining the club.
Players are unhappy
The Mirror adds that the players feel that the departures of Biosca and Laurent have led to them being rushed quickly back to training or playing with slight knocks.
A lot of the injured players are expected back next month but Graham Potter will have to manoeuvre Premier League matches against Crystal Palace, Liverpool and Fulham and a round of 16 Champions League clash against Borussia Dortmund.
