Barca Target Moukoko Allegedly Not 18 Years Old, Adoptive Father Said To Possess Real Birth Certificate

Barcelona target Yousoufa Moukoko is currently entangled in a scandal surrounding his real age. This comes after Moukoko's adoptive father showed journalists a birth certificate proving the player was born in 2000, not 2004, per Austrian news outlet Laola1.

The German FA refused to comment on the saga while Dortmund said they have done their due diligence in confirming Moukoko's real age to be 18.

Back in 2021, Dortmund's Under-23 coach Timo Preus told German outlet Spox he believes Moukoko's age was guessed.

"With Youssoufa, I can imagine that his age has only been guessed," Preus said.

"Maybe in reality he is one or two years older. But certainly he is not 17. For him that is very difficult. There is nothing to blame him for, the boy is not cheating or anything."

The rumours about the player's age only intensified when it was reported that he dated women significantly older than him.

According to Sports Mail, Premier League clubs interested in Moukoko like Newcastle and Chelsea will step back from talks about the forward due to the age scandal.

Moukoko's was born in Cameroon, a country currently making headlines for age and identity scandals. Earlier this month, 21 out of 30 players selected to represent the Cameroon under-17 team were found to be overage after an MRI ordered by FA president Samuel Eto'o.

The Federation quickly replaced the 21 players, but 11 of the new recruits also failed age tests.
