Ancelotti 'strongly opposed' Real Madrid plan to sell Casemiro for one reason
Carlo Ancelotti strongly opposed Real Madrid in their plan to sell Casemiro because he intended to play Aurelien Tchouameni together with the Brazilian in his midfield, per Diario AS.
Real Madrid sold Casemiro to Manchester United last summer for €70.65m. Los Blancos were keen to offload their midfield lynchpin after they had spent €100m to sign Tchouameni.
However, Casemiro's departure is still being felt at Real Madrid given the tremendous quality he added to the squad.
Apparently, the Real Madrid board thought differently about Casemiro given his age and decided to go against their manager's wishes.
It must also be noted that Casemiro was open to joining Manchester United and experiencing a new environment and culture. But Madrid didn't do enough to keep him.
