Alex Iwobi Suffers Terrible Injury As Man Utd Knock Everton Out Of FA Cup
Nigerian international Alex Iwobi suffered a terrible injury as Everton were dumped out of the FA Cup by Manchester United.
The Red Devils put up an impressive performance at Old Trafford on Friday night to cruise to the next round following a 3-1 win over the Toffees.
Everton are now winless in their last four games in all competitions, and there is more pressure under manager Frank Lampard.
Iwobi suffered a terrible knock in the 47th minute of the encounter after he twisted his ankle following a strong challenge from Tyrell Malacia.
The medics raced onto the pitch to attend to the Super Eagles forward, who was then stretched off and had to be replaced by Abdoulaye Doucoure on 51 minutes.
Meanwhile, Manchester United started the game on a bright note with Antony opening the scoring as early as the 4th minute when he tapped home Marcos Rashford’s cross from close range.
The visitors drew level courtesy of a blunder by goalkeeper De Gea who allowed Conor Coady to tuck home from close range.
Complete Sports reports that Coady then turned villain as he poked home Rashford’s cross into his own net to put the home side 2-1 ahead. And in the 97th minute, Rashford converted from the penalty spot to register United’s third.
