Al-Ittihad joins Al-Hilal in the race for Paris Saint-Germain forward Messi.
Al-Ittihad is considered the main rival of Al Nassr, the club that signed Ronaldo last month.
2022 World Cup winner Lionel Messi reportedly has another suitor from Saudi Arabia.
Reports from the Middle East indicate that Al-Ittihad have joined Al-Hilal in the race for Paris Saint-Germain forward.
Earlier this week Barca Universal claimed that Al-Hilal were willing to fork out £245million for the Argentine genius.
But per GOAL, Al-Ittihad are now also believed to have shown interest in the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner - with the league looking to increase its star power following Cristiano Ronaldo's move to Al-Nassr.
According to reports in Marca, both clubs are willing to pay Messi a huge '£306m' per season, eclipsing the £175m his old rival Ronaldo earns.
Messi and Ronaldo are known to be lifelong rivals, battling for every top trophy or award in Europe before the ex-Manchester United man joined Al Nassr in December 2022.
The proposed deal by Al-Itihad will make Messi the highest-paid athlete in football history, topping the $215million currently being paid to Ronaldo by Al Nassr.
Paris Saint-Germain is however confident of Messi penning a contract extension, as they have come up with several added bonuses in the new deal that may extend up to 2025.
