World Cup Winner Blaise Matuidi Announces His Retirement From Football

  


Former France midfielder Blaise Matuidi has decided to bow out from professional football at the age of 35 after announcing his retirement. 

Matuidi enjoyed reasonable success in his football career with his biggest highlight being winning the 2018 FIFA World Cup with France under Didier Deschamps. 

According to the Daily Mail, the former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder revealed now is the time to stop while acknowledging that football has given him so much. 

Matuidi started four of France's seven games in Russia four years ago, including the final, as Didier Deschamps' men beat Croatia 4-2 to win the nation's second World Cup. 

Matuidi made his final international appearance for France in October 2019, and finished with nine goals in 84 caps for his country.

 Matuidi spent most of his career in Serie A and Ligue 1 playing for Juventus and PSG and has a combined seven league winners medals across the two clubs. 

The 35-year-old spent his last two years of football playing in MLS for Inter Miami, but had not featured in a competitive game since November 2021.
