'Who Do you Think You Are"- Denis Wise Forced Young Terry To Sell Expensive Car

Ask any former player of the previous generation before modern football took over, and they will tell you discipline and respect are two big attributes everyone must learn as a young player coming through at a club.

Former Chelsea captain John Terry has reminisced on an incident that happened when he was a youngster that just became a member of the Chelsea first team.

Dennis Wise, who was Chelsea's captain at that time, was tough on Terry for not being prudent as a youngster by spending his Champions League bonus on an expensive car, a car Wise forced him to sell .

The former Leicester man would be proud of JT after he later became captain and rewrote history as the club's most successful captain.

Terry praised Wise's influence

Speaking on The Footballer's Guide to Football podcast, as quoted by Sport Bible, Terry revealed how Dennis Wise brought him up in his earlier days at Chelsea.

''I got a Champions League bonus and I went out and stupidly bought a car with the bonus I was on. I was 19 at the time. I came in with my car and Wisey got me up round the throat in the corridor in front of everyone: 'Who do you think you are? Go and take the car back.''' he said

The five time Premier League winner said he sold the car and instead bought a house.

''So he made me go and take the car back, which I lost money on, took me around and helped me find a house, buy a house, so it was the best bit of advice.'' he added.

Terry who won 78 caps for England reveals embarrassment at the incident but grateful for the lessons.

''I was embarrassed at the time but it was the best bit of advice that I could have had. So I'm really grateful for all those little bits.
