"The World Will Never Forget Him"- Nigeria President Buhari Pays Tribute To Late Pele

Muhammadu Buhari, the President of Nigeria, has expressed sadness over the demise of Brazilian football icon Pele, who passed away on Thursday night, 29 December. 

As far as football is concerned, Pele lived a fulfilled life and was a role model and hero to many footballers and fans around the world. 

After long battle with cancer, the three-time World Cup winner died at Albert Einstein Jewish Hospital in Sao Paulo, leaving children and grandchildren behind. 

Buhari lauds the iconic Pele

 “May he rest in peace. He led a good life, and made a huge contribution to the development of global football in particular and world sport in general."

Buhari mentioned Pele's generous spirit and humility despite his greatness in the field of sports. 

“He also built bridges across nations, races and even religions. He was a UN Ambassador of goodwill. Pele is gone, but the world will never forget him. RIP.'' 

The President of Nigeria is among many to react to the Brazilian legend's passing.
