Mikel Arteta has revealed that Emile Smith Rowe had a setback to his recovery from injury.
Speaking after Arsenal's 3-0 victory over Lyon in Dubai, he said: “With Emile, he has returned to training & he’s in that process after rehab, after a period where he had some real discomfort.
"We are giving him time - he’s getting closer & closer, so hopefully in the next few weeks, we’ll be able to see him.”
Smith Rowe hasn't played a game since the Gunners' only loss of the season against Manchester United at the start of September.
He is expected to return before the restart of the Premier League on Boxing Day.
