Romano confirms Real Madrid's interest in Enzo Fernandez - reveals massive release clause

Real Madrid are interested in signing Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandez next year, confirms Fabrizio Romano.

Los Blancos have earmarked the Argentina star as a possible alternative to Jude Bellingham.

However, Benfica have placed a €120m release clause into Fernandez’s contract – making it tough to sign him for cheap.

Madrid are unlikely to pay such a high fee for him, but will try to negotiate with the Portuguese side to bring that down.

They are yet to have any talks with Benfica over a move, but remain interested in the midfielder.

Fernandez has featured in all five of Argentina’s World Cup games, scoring one goal and providing one assist in an impressive campaign.
