FIFA have announced that Richarlison has won the 2022 World Cup goal of the tournament.

Brazil's Richarlison de Andrade scooped the 2022 FIFA World Cup goal of the tournament, beating competition from eventual top scorer Kylian Mbappe.

Richarlison, whose World Cup campaign came to an end in the quarterfinals, won the coveted award ahead of Mbappe and eight other nominees.

The Tottenham striker's acrobatic goal against Serbia emerged as the best goal of the tournament, which has been described by many as the best World Cup in history.

Sportstar indicates that the 22nd edition of the World Cup saw the most goals scored in any edition of the tournament, with the count reaching 172 in Qatar.

Below is a video of Richarlison's bicycle kick goal:

Richarlison scored a stunning goal for Brazil against Serbia in their opening 2022 World Cup game.

The Tottenham Hotspur striker scored his first in the 62nd minute to give the Samba Boys a commanding lead, despite a ragged start against the European side.

His second goal was the pick of the bunch - he took Vinicius Jnr's outside-of-the-boot pass before spectacularly firing past the hapless Vanja Milinkovic-Savic in the 73rd minute.
