Leo Messi surpasses Pele's huge World Cup record - in fact he surpasses anyone in one stat
Leo Messi has assisted five goals in the World Cup knockout stages. This is the most on record in the knockout rounds of the finals, surpassing Pele's four.

On top of that, adding a goal to his brilliant assist against Netherlands, Leo has now equalled Gabriel Batistuta as Argentine with the most World Cup goals (10).

He only needs one more to become the sole leader.
