Kano Pillars Striker Ebuka Odenigbo Confirmed Dead

Kano Pillars star Ebuka Odenigbo passed away on Friday night, throwing the entire Nigeria Professional Football League community into mourning.

The circumstances leading to the death of the footballer could not be ascertained as at the time of filing this report.

The 21-year-old had been impressive since joining Sai Masu Gida in 2018 and was part of the squad for Pillars last season.

Best Choice Sports reports that Odenigbo was a graduate of the University of Agriculture in Benue State and won gold medal during the Nigeria University Games in 2017.

Odenigbo of Kano Pillars made the jump from Higher Institutions Football League (HIFL) to CAF Champions League.

He was 2018 HIFL MVP playing for University of Agriculture Makurdi (UAM) Tillers and his signature was battled by Kano Pillars and Enyimba in 2019.

He was one of many to make the jump to professional football from HIFL.

Just last year, his brother Kelvin Odenigbo was found dead after the 20-year-old drowned in a lake in Belarus.

Channels TV reports that his Belarusian club FC Vitebsk confirmed the sad incident, explaining that he drowned in Lake Beloye.

“The football club “Vitebsk” reports that on June 5, 2021, on the lake “Beloye”, in the area of the tourist base “Verasy”, OSVOD employees found the drowned Kelvin Odenigbo,” the club said in a Google-translated statement posted on its website.
