'I spoke to him': Eddie Nketiah reveals what he told Gabriel Jesus after his knee injury
"I spoke to him [Gabriel Jesus] and wished him a speedy recovery," Eddie Nketiah said in an interview quoted by Football London.
"It is never nice to see anyone miss a World Cup and also for us as a team he is a big player, we are going to miss him. We are all behind him."
The Arsenal forward continued: "Of course, it is an opportunity for myself.
"These things happen in football unfortunately so you've just got to be ready for the moment when it comes.
"I have been working hard, I've been working hard all season and I'm sure when I get the opportunity I'll be able to come in and help the team."
Nketiah is Mikel Arteta's go-to choice for the striker's role following Jesus' absence due to injury.
The Brazilian will be out for at least three months as he recovers, which presents the ideal opportunity for Nketiah to establish himself.
