Ex-Barca presidents Josep Bartomeu and Rosell escape jail time in Neymar 2013 transfer
Former Barcelona presidents Josep Maria Bartomeu and Sandro Rosell have been acquitted in the criminality trial over the transfer of Neymar from Santos to Barca in 2013.
A Barcelona-based court declared Bartomeu, Rosell and the Neymar family not guilty of crimes of corruption in the transfer of the Brazilian forward.
Barcelona spent a total of €88m to sign Neymar in 2013 under the administration of Bartomeu, but Brazilian investment fund DIS, who claimed to own 40% of the player's image rights, received just €6.8m from the entire operation.
Bartomeu will breathe a sigh of relief after escaping jail time, while Rosell remains eligible to contest for the position of Mayor of Barcelona.
