Teams to have defended or won the FIFA world cup back to back as France chases repeat

France is looking to defend their World Cup title in Qatar with Les Bleus moving on to face Argentina in the 2022 World Cup final after defeating Morocco in the semis.

Didier Deschamps' side showed their resilience to edge out England, with a 2-1 win in the quarterfinals, and then to down a tough Atlas Lions side in the semifinal round to secure a date with Argentina.

France is looking to set a standard in modern World Cup memory by holding onto their trophy in the Middle East despite significant changes from their 2018 side.

The French side suffered a number of injuries to key players in the lead-up to the tournament. Still, under Didier Deschamps and with Kylian Mbappe leading the way on the field, Les Bleus showed their unmatched depth to mount another final run.
