8 Players Deemed ‘Untouchables’ At FC Barcelona
FC Barcelona has faced numerous problems in the last few years because of the economic mismanagement of the previous board, especially in regard to Financial Fair Play and limits on the first-team wage bill.
The end of these problems is still not in sight, and the ruinous financial position of the club can force them to part ways with one of its many highly valuable players. While which player will leave is not yet clear, the club management has been certain about the 6 players that they are not willing to let go of.
According to a report published by Sport, Araujo, Kounde, Gavi, Pedri, Fati, and Lewandowski are the 6 untouchable players at the club.
The case for all of these players is obvious. Robert Lewandowski arrived from Munich last summer for €45+€5 million, with a contract that runs up to June 2026. Up to now, the central striker has performed exactly up to his reputation, as he is atop the La Liga scoring chart with 13 goals in 14 appearances, which is in addition to his 4 assists. He is also a leader at the club and is someone whom the youngsters look up to for inspiration both within and outside of the match field.
Jules Kounde also arrived last summer from Sevilla for €50 million plus variables and is among the best defenders in world football. He is adept both from the center and the right flank and has 5 years on his contract with FC Barcelona, and a release clause of €1 billion.
Ronald Araujo and Gavi are two more indispensable players for La Blaugrana. Ronald Araujo is expected to return to the field once La Liga resumes in January after a long spell with injury. Gavi has shined both with his club and national sides during the last few months, which resulted in him winning the Golden Boy award. Both players renewed their contracts with the club this year, which now run up to June 2026.
Fati is the fifth of the untouchables in the Catalan club, and despite his troubles with injuries, enjoys the support and confidence of Xavi. The head coach expects the young prodigy to play an integral part in the second half of this season. Lastly, Pedri, with his immaculate football, ability to influence the game like few others, and bright future ahead of him, is another player the club is not willing to part ways with.
The Seventh and Eight players are Dembele and Christensen.
