'You don't always get what you deserve': Ten Hag reflects on failing to win Europa League group
Speaking to BT Sport after Man United’s 1-0 win over Real Sociedad in the Europa League, Erik ten Hag said: “You don’t always get what you deserve: the first leg they got a penalty which wasn’t a penalty.
“We are disappointed. We want to always be number one and when we aren't we are disappointed, but there were also some positives and we have to take them from here as well.”
The Red Devils could’ve won the group had they scored another goal against Sociedad, but failed to do despite throwing everything they had at the Spanish side.
After finishing second in their group, the Red Devils will need to play a double-legged playoff knockout game in February against a side that has fallen from the Champions League group stages.
