'We're exploring a sale': FSG founder confirms rumours but claims 'there's no urgency'
Fenway Sports Group founder Tom Werner has confirmed that rumours about their openness to sell Liverpool are not baseless.
"We’re exploring a sale, but there’s no urgency, no time frame for us, and as far as I’m concerned, it’s business as usual," Werner told the Boston Globe, the newspaper owned by John W Henry, the FSG chairman.
"One outcome could be our continued stewardship for quite a while."
The story was broken by The Athletic last week. The initial report stated that the FSG were ready to listen in to the offers for a full takeover as well as a partial share sale.
FSG have been in charge at Anfield since 2010. They've overseen Liverpool becoming a major force in England and in Europe, winning both the Premier League and the Champions League.
