OFFICIAL: Van Dijk, Kane & other captains won't wear One Love armbands at World Cup

Earlier, Virgil van Dijk said he would wear the One Love armband at the World Cup in Qatar to promote inclusion and LGBTQ+ rights. Harry Kane, Gareth Bale and Christian Eriksen also confirmed their intention to do the same.

However, England, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany, Denmark and Wales Football Associations have confirmed they've told their captains not to wear the armbands.

"We can't put our players in a position where they could face sporting sanctions, including bookings," the joint statement reads.

"We're very frustrated by the Fifa decision which we believe is unprecedented. We wrote to Fifa in September informing them of our wish to wear the OneLove armband to actively support inclusion in football, and had no response.

"Our players and coaches are disappointed."
