Man United appoint lawyers to sue Ronaldo over breach of contract — what it m eans

According to The Guardian, a tier-one source, Manchester United have appointed lawyers to begin the process of suing Cristiano Ronaldo for his baseless claims in the explosive Piers Morgan interview.

During the two-part interview, the 37-year-old alleged that he's being forced out of the club, that chiefs weren't empathetic to his daughter's hospitalisation and that Erik ten Hag doesn't respect him.

The Guardian cites club sources who say none of those are true and that's backed by Ten Hag's comments in press conferences where he always protected Ronaldo and expressed a desire to work with him.

The club also didn't take action when Ronaldo didn't turn up for pre-season and instead, stated he was unavailable due to family issues.

Ronaldo, like all other players, signed a contract with United which includes terms like all employees must 'comply with and act in accordance with all lawful instructions of any authorised official of the club'.

They are also and are not allowed to 'write or say anything which is likely to bring the club… into disrepute… or cause damage to the club'.

If it's found that his interview - which the club didn't have any idea of before it aired - breached those terms, United will be legally cleared to rip up his contract.
