Jordi Alba reveals when he will leave Barcelona
In his interview with Diario Sport, Jordi Alba was asked what were his plans for the future.
"My intention is to continue here [at Barcelona] for many more years as long as I can perform at my best level," the full-back said.
"When I am unable to, I will be the first to leave, but I feel great mentally and physically, and as long as this is the case, I will be here."
As per reports, Barca tried to offload Alba on deadline day, with Inter Milan showing interest. The left-back had a poor start to the season, and the Catalans also wanted to get rid of his wages.
However, Jordi ended up staying. Although he lost his starting spot in September, he started featuring more regularly as the season progressed. So far, the 33-year-old has recorded 2 assists in 12 matches (9 starts).
Alba's current contract runs until 2024. He might be the only of the current captains to continue at Camp Nou next season since Gerard Pique has already retired while Sergio Busquets and Sergi Roberto have contracts until 2023.
