'I really don't put the blame on Xavi': De Jong on coach's stance during summer transfer saga

"I never got the feeling that Xavi was against me. To the media, he said that he was happy with me but that there’s also the financial part of the club. I think it was difficult for him to speak about this. He is not the one making these decisions," Frenkie de Jong has told De Telegraaf.

"He left the possibility of my departure open as he never came out and said: ‘Frenkie is staying no matter the financial situation’, but I really don’t put the blame on Xavi."

De Jong continued at Camp Nou despite Barcelona's attempts to push him out last summer.

As for Xavi, it is clear that the coach doesn't have a problem with Frenkie. The Dutchman was a regular starter in the last matches before the break and has proven to Xavi that he is a worthy substitute for Sergio Busquets.
