Chelsea have appointed Brighton's head of recruitment Paul Winstanley with immediate effect. He takes over the office of Director of Global Talent and Transfers at Chelsea.
Winstanley has been in talks with Chelsea since October and Brighton placed him on gardening leave before he resigned from his role last month after 8 years at Albion.
Chelsea owner Todd Boehly released a statement saying:
"Paul is going to be great addition. He’s highly respected as key senior addition as we continue to build a world-class sporting team”.
“I’m thrilled to be joining Chelsea and to continue working with Graham Potter and his team,” Winstanley said.
“There is a real sense of excitement and momentum around the new ownership and this project.
"I’m looking forward to working with such an outstanding group of colleagues as the club moves into a new era,” he added.
Winstanley is now the sixth man to follow Graham Potter from Brighton and Hove Albion to Chelsea.
First-team coaches Billy Reid, Bjorn Hamberg and Bruno all joined Chelsea with Potter in September. The same goes for goalkeeping coach Ben Roberts and assistant head of recruitment Kyle [Macaulay]."
