'Bit strange’: Rooney responds to Ronaldo slandering him with disrespectful comments

Speaking about how he feels about Cristiano Ronaldo’s smearing comments on him on the Piers Morgan interview, Wayne Rooney told CNN: “Well, listen, Cristiano Ronaldo’s a fantastic player and, as I’ve said before, he and [Lionel] Messi are the two best players probably to play the game.

“And, again, it’s not a criticism. What I’ve said is age comes to all of us, and Cristiano is obviously feeling now that he’s finally had to deal with that. He’s done an interview and it’s gone global.

“Bit strange some of the comments but I’m sure Man United will deal with it once they see the full interview and take whatever action they need to take.”

Despite being attacked by Ronaldo and even called a ‘rat’, Rooney has not said anything bad about his ex-Man United teammate.

In fact, Wazza has insisted he’ll be happy to see Cristiano lift the World Cup and still brands him as one of the very best players of all time.
