Aston Villa confirm they will have a new club badge from the 2023-24 season

Aston Villa fans vote on new Club crest, here comes the final results.

Introducing: Aston Villa Football Club's new crest from the 2023/24 season.

In June 2022, we announced the start of a process to review our Club visually, including exploring a redesign of the current Club crest.

Following an extensive period of fan consultation, creative exploration and crafting, two crest designs were shortlisted, and on Friday, November 4, season ticket holders and members were presented with both options and asked to vote for the one they would prefer to be the new Club crest.

THE RESULTS

Fans were asked to choose between a design inspired by the founding story of our historic Club, in the form of a traditional gas lamp, or a more traditional, round crest which pays homage to our 1982 European Cup triumph. As part of the voting process, fans were also asked whether they would simply prefer to keep the current crest.

Over 21,500 fans took part in the vote.

77% of fans voted for the round design

23% of fans voted for the gas lamp design

8% voted to keep the current crest

The results of the vote give a very clear indication of fan preference to change the Aston Villa crest and a strong winning design.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

The current crest will remain in place for the remainder of the 2022/23 season, with the new crest officially replacing it for the 2023/24 season, including being in place on next season’s kits, released next summer. The crest redesign will now also be factored into an evolution of the rest of our visual identity.

Throughout this important crest design process we have listened to the views of our fans; as ever, you have done us proud in playing your part.

We would like to thank all the fans who responded to the initial survey and those who came along to our in-depth focus groups; and of course, thank you to all of you who took part in the final vote, which set a new record for Villa fan participation in a Club survey.
