Todd Boehly reportedly blocked Kepa's summer transfer to Napoli.

Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly was actually responsible for blocking the loan exit of Kepa Arrizabalaga to Napoli in the summer, confirms Fabrizio Romano.

He wrote on his CaughtOffside column: “Kepa was actually close to leaving in the summer as Napoli were in advanced talks with Chelsea over a deal.

“In the end, Todd Boehly didn’t accept a loan proposal with buy option as he only wanted to proceed on permanent deal. Kepa is now doing great under Graham Potter but I’m sure Edouard Mendy will also be ready to compete soon, so there’s no news on the goalkeepers situation at Chelsea right now.”

Boehly made a great decision to keep Kepa, as new manager Graham Potter is a big fan of the goalkeeper and has used him in the last four games – resulting in four consecutive clean sheets for the Blues.

The Spaniard is currently the no. 1 at Chelsea and is unlikely to pass the mantle to Edouard Mendy if this form continues.
