'This country doesn't like to see that': Paul Scholes brands Antony 'clown' for showboating vs Sheriff

Paul Scholes did not hold back while discussing Antony's failed trickery during the 3-0 win over Sheriff Tiraspol.

During his appearance as a pundit on BT Sport, the Manchester United legend said: "I'm not even sure it's skill, is it? Could we do that?

"Is it his trademark? I think he needs a better one. He needs to find a more entertaining way.

"I don't think this country likes to see that. Does any country, even Brazil? Brazil don't want to see that, do they? Ajax, in Holland, do they want to see that?

"I like to see skill, but I just don't think that is skill or entertainment. That is just being a clown, isn't it?"

Antony didn't quite pull off what he wanted to do but it was a harmless skill from a 22-year-old. That's what wingers do and let's not forget his Brazilian genes.

If Scholes wants to criticise Antony for his lack of impact, that's a different thing. But here, his comments are harsh and uncalled for.
