'Not surprising when we don't kill games off': Arsenal fans identify major issue at the club after Saints draw
Arsenal played out a 1–1 draw away at Southampton on Sunday, dropping points for the second time this season.
Dodgy referring aside, some Emirates fans believe that the grueling pre-World Cup fixture list is starting to get to the players.
Willockinho (via /r/Gunners): "Players looked exhausted."
arijitlive: "That's the problem with playing on Thursday in the Europa League and having less depth in the club. We had to win against PSV and we played 6 first-teamers on Thursday. They couldn't recover in time for full 90 mins match. Only Xhaka didn't look exhausted."
Masson011: "Not surprising when we don't kill games off. That Leeds game took so much out of everyone and its because we didn't kill Leeds off in the first half. Instead it resulted in 90 mins of hard work and effort. We do this every single match."
sechem: "They looked disinterested. I think it was a mental exhaustion more than anything. We should've finished this game off in the first half, which suggests to me that the mental and physical condition was accounted for."
gimmeakissmrsoftlips: "I re-watched some bits and pieces of our games this season and what stood out to me the most was the insane energy and aggression we started games with at the beginning of the season. I think this has slowly but surely decreased throughout the season thus far, so I think this points to fatigue. The winter World Cup could be great for us, because this trend is a bit worrying and Arteta's style is particularly demanding."
kidmaciek: "These last 10 minutes were painful to watch. So much recklessness, misplaced passes and no urgency. Flashback to last season, ugh."
