Neymar arrives in Barcelona for fraud trial – he could be jailed for 5 years with Bartomeu

Neymar Jr. has just landed in Barcelona for his fraud trial over his move to Barca back in 2013.

The 30-year-old is being sued alongside his father (Neymar Snr.), former Barcelona chiefs Josep Bartomeu and Sandro Rosell - if found guilty all four protagonists could be jailed for up to five years.

Neymar and the former Barca bosses are being accused of defrauding an agency company, DIS, by hiding the true cost of his move to Barca nearly a decade ago.

DIS, who owns 40% of Neymar's image rights claimed they only received a percentage from the €17m declared by Barca, whereas it has only been established that Barca paid a total of €83m for the Brazilian.

Rosell and his ally Bartomeu are accused of cheating the company by paying as much as €40m to Neymar's family.

The trial is set to begin today.
