'It's all jealousy': Barca fans defend Gavi after facing criticism for Kopa award win

Gavi won the Kopa Trophy in the Ballon d’Or award show, becoming the second Barcelona player to do so.

The Spaniard is facing criticism from some fans for his win, with a few believing that Jude Bellingham should’ve won it.

Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann himself indicated that Bellingham and Jamal Musiala had a better season than Gavi last time around.

There are also accusations being made that France Football are biased towards Barca, with him being the second player from the club to win it in consecutive years.

However, Cules have jumped to the defence of the Spanish wonderkid, as they reacted on Twitter.

TalkFCB: “People also seem to conveniently forget that during his breakout season, at the age of just 17, Gavi managed to become a STARTER in the Spanish national team, being one of their best performers.”

Jay McAlvenny: “Recency bias is so bad in football.”

ProFIFA: “It's all jealousy, ignore them.”

Agon53: “Let them talk what they want in a poor team gavi is one of the few players who always standed up if we had 11 players like gavi and his mentality we would not be this embarrassed. He deserves everything hopefully one day we will be good as a team again and everyone praised him.”

Max: “Youngest goalscorer for the national side as well, the amount of obsession around an 18 year old is crazy.”

PK14: “People be 28 and hating on a 17 year old. Just because they’ll never get even remotely close to having the same success as him. Pathetic. No Barça fan is hating on Jude or Musiala, but everybody is hating on Pedri and Gavi.”
