'It'll be a demanding match': Arteta challenges Arsenal players to ‘raise their level’ against Liverpool
Speaking about the challenge Arsenal players face in the Liverpool game, Mikel Arteta said: “It’s another really exciting game to play in front of our people against one of the toughest opponents in this league.
“It’s gonna be a really demanding match that will require us to be at our best again. Obviously this is a big match, it’s a fixture that everybody is looking for against an opponent that in the last five, or six years has shown the level that they have.
“We have to show against those opponents that we have raised the level and we’re ready to compete against them. I’m very conscious that we can get much better than where we are today.
“There are a lot of aspects that we have to do much better to be the team we want to be and the challenge now is to do it every three days.”
Arsenal face a Liverpool side that have drawn 4 out of their first 7 Premier League games and are in a poor run of form, so the players should be fancying their chances.
A win can ensure that the Gunners will retain their place at the top of the table and keep the pressure on those below them, which is exactly what Arteta would want.
