'It would've been a drama if Griezmann came back': Laporta confirms agreement with Atletico
Joan Laporta has confirmed that Barcelona have a deal in place with Atletico Madrid for the permanent transfer of Antoine Griezmann.
"Griezmann is a good deal. €20m fixed and €4m in add-ons, plus the difference if Atletico sell him for up to €40m. If he came back, we had to pay his €36m salary and it would have been a drama," the Barcelona president has said.
Laporta also explained that taking Atleti to court would've taken more time. Besides, it's not guaranteed that the court would've interpreted the cause in Griezmann's contract the way Barca does.
As a reminder, the Rojiblancos deliberately didn't start Antoine as they didn't want to trigger the €40m buyout clause.
