'Is it a concern?': Klopp not worried about Liverpool often conceding first ahead of facing Haaland

This season, it feels almost inevitable that Liverpool would concede first. Even in a 7-1 win against Rangers, the Reds went 1-0 down in the 17th minute. In the Arsenal game, Martinelli scored in the 57th second of the game.

"So, first goal conceding, is it a concern?" Jurgen Klopp said at a press conference ahead of the City game.

"Look at the situation, we played really good football in the early stages of the [Rangers] game and in this moment where we lose the ball, in the moment where every team in the world opens up the pitch in the moment when you start playing, and that's what we did.

"We lost the ball in a moment where we're not compact because we couldn't be compact, and two passes later Arfield is alone in front of the goal. So these things can happen unfortunately if you lose the ball in the wrong moment and that's what happened there."

So Klopp does not acknowledge a negative trend in Liverpool's defence this season.

This is particularly worrying ahead of the City game on Sunday. Their leading goalscorer Erling Haaland has netted 20 times in 13 games so far this season: City will be the biggest test for the Reds' leaky defence.
