'I sometimes go over the top': Lionel Messi says he is a very strict father to his children

"Between me and Antonela, I’m the one who tells the boys off most," explained Lionel Messi when discussing his family dynamics in an interview with an Argentine journalist.

"She’s normal and the person who spends the most time with them because of my travel commitments and games which means I’m away a lot.

"They pay more attention to me because when I scold them I sometimes go over the top."

The Paris Saint-Germain superstar added: "I try to make them learn the value of things so they understand they have to earn things every day and don’t assume that because they’re lucky enough to have the possibility of having many things, think it’s easy."

While speaking about his middle son Mateo, who is a spitting image of Leo, the 35-year-old said: "That’s bad because he doesn’t like to lose at anything.

"When he loses he starts kicking off and argues with his brothers. He’s a terrible loser and to avoid problems I let him win many times."

Messi has shown for years who the boss is on the field and he's unafraid to lay down the rules when it comes to his kids - which is how it should be.

Anto and Leo have figured out a system that works for their parenting style and that's evident from their three lovely children.
