Gonzalo Higuain has announced his retirement at the end of the 2022 MLS season.

During the farewell presser, the Argentine also spent some time reminiscing about his Real Madrid past.

"My father came into my room to tell me that Real Madrid were going to buy me. I told him 'don't mess around, dad, I'm not joking around'... it was true," he said.

"I played for the best club in the world for 7 years," the 34-year-old also noted.

Gonzalo Higuain made 264 appearances for Real Madrid, scoring 121 goals and providing 56 assists. He won 3 La Liga titles, 2 Supercopa trophies and one Copa del Rey with the Whites.
