'I have respect for him': Potter opens up on Chelsea's reported interest in Ronaldo

Graham Potter says he has respect for Cristiano Ronaldo but rules out a move to Chelsea from Manchester United. The Englishman was pressed about Ronaldo during his latest press conference on Tuesday.

Providing a dead-batted response, he said: "We can spend all day asking these questions and I am not going to speak about anyone else. I've got respect for anyone you mention or anyone that anyone else mentions, but if they're not our players I don't speak about them."

Before meeting the five-time Ballon d'Or winner during his time as Brighton manager, Potter did speak about the player. On that occasion in February, before Ronaldo scored in a 2-0 victory, Potter said: "You run out of superlatives in terms of what he's achieved in his career and the player that he is."

Ronaldo is being touted to be on his way out of United in the summer. The ex-Real Madrid superstar has started just once in the Premier League with no goal. Potter's Chelsea face AC Milan on Wednesday in the Champions Legue.
