Getafe vs Real Madrid: match preview
Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Osasuna was the first time this season that Real Madrid had failed to win in LaLiga - or indeed any competition - but Los Blancos were still overtaken at the top of the Spanish league last weekend. After beating Real Mallorca, Barcelona now lead the way on goal difference.

With Barça not back in LaLiga action until Sunday, Madrid can reclaim top spot overnight with a positive result at the Coliseum - but it’s a ground they lost at last term. Getafe were 1-0 winners over Carlo Ancelotti’s side on matchday 19 in January, Enes Ünal’s early goal securing the points for the hosts.

After taking just one point from their first four LaLiga games this term, Getafe claimed consecutive wins over Real Sociedad and Osasuna in September to rise to 14th, where they remain despite a 3-2 defeat to Real Valladolid last time out.

Getafe vs Real Madrid: team news
For Real Madrid, the major team news is that Karim Benzema is not in the squad. Having returned from a three-week injury layoff against Osasuna, the striker also played in the midweek Champions League win over Shakhtar Donetsk, but has been left out of Saturday’s clash with apparent muscle fatigue.

“Benzema has played two 90 minutes in a row after a month out and today he’s still tight,” Madrid head coach Ancelotti told reporters on Friday. Injured pair Dani Ceballos and Thibaut Courtois both also miss out.

Meanwhile, Sánchez Flores is sweating on the fitness of Jaime Seoane, Portu, Nemanja Maksimovic and Mauro Arambarri. “We’ll wait until tomorrow [Saturday] to see which player can be included in the squad,” the Getafe boss said.

Who is the referee?
The match referee at the Coliseum will be Antonio Mateu Lahoz. He will be assisted by Pau Cebrián and Rubén Porras, while the fourth official will be Daniel Palencia. The video assistant referee will be David Medié Jiménez.
