'Erik ten Hag has impressed me': Neville names key areas, one involves Maguire and Ronaldo

Gary Neville says he has been impressed with some aspects of Erik ten Hag's managerial style at Manchester United. Speaking on Sky Bet's The Overlap, Neville said "The reason I didn’t feel that Manchester United’s 6-3 loss to Manchester City didn’t feel that bad because if we beat Everton – which we did – I could accept last weekend, because they’re back on track again".

"Erik ten Hag has impressed me – he has come out of that transfer window, which was an absolute shocker. The handling of Cristiano Ronaldo and Harry Maguire, and even Luke Shawcoming back into the squad and the way he handled the 4-0 defeat at Brentford, I have to say it’s pretty impressive.

"Those bids for Casemiro and Antony went in 24-48 hours prior to the Liverpool game, after the 4-0 loss to Brentford, and Liverpool coming to Old Trafford was going to be the graveyard game. When he made the players run 13kms after Brentford, that could’ve gone badly wrong and seen as a gimmick if they would’ve lost – it was a risk, but it paid off."
