Chelsea set to make Mount among highest-paid players with new contract

Chelsea have started talks with Mason Mount’s representatives over a new long-term contract, claims the Evening Standard.

Todd Boehly is optimistic about tying the midfielder to a new deal soon after having discussions with him.

Chelsea are ready to give him a major salary hike and make him among the highest-earning players at the club.

Mount is going to remain loyal to his boyhood club and reject any advances from English and other European sides.

However, negotiations for a new deal can take time, especially with the World Cup set to kick-start next month.

So it’s likely that Mount will sign a new contract after the tournament is over – but Chelsea wants to give him a major deal to keep him at the club for many years to come.
