Chelsea express interest in Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimaraes

Chelsea have expressed an interest in Newcastle midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, the Evening Standard reports.

The Brazilian has been a revelation in the Premier League since joining Newcastle in January 2022 for £40million.

The 24-year-old who can play as a defensive midfielder or a box-to-box has registered two goals and two assists for the side that has turned from a relegation candidate into a real contender for the European places.

Real Madrid are another side that is watching Guimaraes closely. However, both clubs are aware that Newcastle have no intention to sell one of their leaders.

Moreover, the Magpies are prepared to offer the midfielder a new deal worth around £200,000 a week.

Chelsea owners, however, have a long-standing relationship with their counterparts at Newcastle, so they might want to see if that gives them an edge if they make a serious move for Guimaraes.
