Barca prefer Kante over Ruben Neves for 2 reasons, could push for January move

Barcelona are looking for a replacement for Sergio Busquets as it seems increasingly likely that he will leave at the end of the season.

Despite recent rumours around Ruben Neves, the Catalans prefer N'Golo Kante ahead of him for two reasons, Relevo's highly-credible Albert Roge and Toni Juanmarti report.

First, the technical area prefers Kante's profile as he is a more dynamic pivot compared to Busquets. He can cover a lot of ground while also participating in build-up.

Second, the 31-year-old would be available for free next summer or at a lower price in January. N'Golo doesn't plan on extending his current deal with Chelsea.

Neves, on the other hand, would cost us around €25m.

Initially, the idea was to wait until next summer. However, due to Financial Fair Play rules, it would be easier for Barca to sign Kante this winter. They will make a decision after the 2022 World Cup.

Kante's entourage is aware of Blaugrana's interest. They are not in a hurry to switch clubs, but Barca potentially switching to a 4-2-3-1 formation could persuade the Frenchman.
