Ancelotti disagrees with Courtois over reason for Madrid's defeat, shares his vision

After the loss to RB Leipzig, Thibaut Courtois said that the reason for it was Real Madrid's lack of intensity.

Although numbers prove that the Germans outran us by almost 6 km, Carlo Ancelotti did not agree with Courtois.

"Everyone has their opinion," the Real Madrid coach said.

"I didn't see the players relaxed. We were not focused during set pieces, we usually are more assertive. We were close to making it 2- 2, we didn't lack intensity.

"We are going to focus on what did not go well - the set pieces. We are usually better, but it can happen. We played the game in a way that we didn't want. It was better to play in a lower block, it was the opposite of what we had in mind. At 2-0, we had to play differently."

Perhaps the reason why Madrid lost focus during the set pieces was that three of the starting defenders are usually bench options for Ancelotti. They may lack the understanding that the starters have.
