'A poor joke: Puyol apologizes for playing along with Casillas hacked coming-out tweet
Hours after deleting his tweet alluding to a gay relationship with Iker Casillas, former Barcelona captain Carles Puyol has posted an apology.
"I have made a mistake. Sorry for the poor joke with no bad intentions and absolutely out of place. I understand that I could have hurt the feelings of some. All my respect and support for the LGBTIQA+ community," Puyol has tweeted.
Me he equivocado. Perdón por una broma torpe sin ninguna mala intención y absolutamente fuera de lugar. Entiendo que puede haber herido sensibilidades. Todo mi respeto y apoyo a la comunidad LGTBIQA+

Previously, Casillas claimed that his account got hacked. However, reports said that it was actually an ironic tweet in response to the constant rumours in the press regarding his affairs with multiple women.
Hacked or ironically tweeted, Puyol certainly didn't have to engage with that tweet.
