Rudiger's agent reveals Boehly board blames Abramovich 'regime' for huge transfer spend in 2022
Football agent Saif Rudie worked as an intermediary in Toni Rudiger's move to Real Madrid. He reveals he had discussions with Chelsea's top brass under the Boehly ownership, and says the new owners are not pleased with the state of the club after Roman Abramovich's departure.
Chelsea had to sign new defenders in Fofana, Koulibaly and Cucurella and it resulted in a €281.99m net spend. Rudie said that the new board was unhappy with how Abramovich and his decision-making committee, comprising Bruce Buck, Marina Granovskaia and Petr Cech, made transfer business.
"The new regime had to come and pick up the pieces of decisions that were made by the old regime," Rudie said on Talksport, as quoted by the Daily Mail.
"Things like letting the lad (Guehi) go to Crystal Palace, who was also a defender, letting another (Tomori) go for not a lot of money to AC Milan.
"When I spoke to the new regime, I said the old regime cost you £100m. Do you know what they said to me? 'More'."
