Recent study: Harry Maguire is almost as good as Virgil van Dijk

Harry Maguire has been relegated to the bench by Erik ten Hag following the disastrous start to the 2022/23 season.

However, a recent study by Midnite shows that the Manchester United skipper remains as good statistically as Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk.

Van Dijk has made 206 tackles in his 206 Premier League appearances with a 69% success rate. Maguire, meanwhile, has 254 tackles in four more games with success rate of 67%.

Interceptions-wise, the Englishman has a record of 326 at 1.58 interceptions per game. The Dutchman's numbers stand at 1.59 per game. Moreover, Van Dijk has won 74% of his aerial duels in the top flight compared to 72% for Maguire.
