Paul Pogba's brother Mathias 'charged and detained' over £11m extortion allegations
Ex-Man United midfielder Paul Pogba’s elder brother Mathias has been charged by the French police over a plot to extort money from him, as per Reuters.
Four other people have also been detained and will be formally investigated over their potential roles in the extortion plot.
Earlier this month, Pogba claimed that he was a victim of extortion attempts and threats from an organized criminal gang – which included his own brother.
The group reportedly demanded him to pay £11m for ‘protection services’ given to him over the last 13 years. He paid them £85,000 earlier this spring after their thretas got serious.
Mathias Pogba’s lawyer, Yassine Bouzrou, has insisted that his client is innocent and they will challenge the decision to detain him in custody.
Paul is currently on the injury table for Juventus and is yet to make his official ‘second debut’ for them.
