Martinez & 2 more United players feature in CIES Football Observatory's most impactful U-25 players list

Man United have three players featured in the CIES Football Observatory’s ‘Most Impactful U-25’ footballers in the world.

The ‘impactfullness’ is based on eight categories, as they explain: “The role-based approach used to determine technical profiles clusters players according to the level of their involvement in eight areas of the game with respect to teammates: air defence, ground defence, recovery, distribution, take on, chance creation, air attack and shooting.”

Lisandro Martinez has been ranked third in the ‘ground blocker filter man’ category, getting a score of 88.5 (out of 100).

Diogo Dalot sits second in the ‘defensive infiltrator’ category with a 89.9 score – only behind Bayern Munich wing-back Alphonso Davies.

Antony is ranked fifth in the ‘shooter infiltrator’ category, with a 87 score.

CIES also adds that this is calculated: “by taking into consideration the average match level in which players participated according to the experience capital method, official game minutes played over the last 365 days, as well as pitch performance compared to both teammates, opponents and same profile’s players.”

Martinez and Dalot have been among United’s top performers so far this season, putting in some sturdy performances at the back. Antony has been decent so far, scoring one goal in his only Premier League game against Arsenal.
